The Beginners Guide to Delike Fountain Pens

Delike is a relatively new Chinese fountain pen manufacturer who has been around since about 2017. They have gained a reputation for having better quality fountain pens than the cheap and cheerful ones available for a couple of dollars. However, this is also reflected in the price of their fountain pens.

They also have gained some notoriety for blatantly copying other brands these included the Delike Alpha brass fountain pen which was an imitation of the Kaweco Sport Brass Fountain Pen. Also, the Delike New Moon was a copycat of the Sailor Pro Gear Slim Fountain Pen.

To add further confusion into the mix you will see some fountain pens banded as Delike Moonman. This occurred because even though they are two separate brands Delike originally manufactured some of the early Moonman pens for them. Although nowadays they are is no interchange of the brand names they are completely separate.

Ok, that’s enough about the company lets get down to the pens the following list is not meant to be a review of the pens more of an introduction to some of the more popular models.

1. Delike Alpha Brass Fountain Pen

Delike Alpha Brass Fountain Pen War and Peace

As we have already mentioned this was one of their first pens which is a Kaweco Classic Brass Sport rip off. It is easily recognizable by the War and Peace slogan engraved on the barrel of the pen. Although there are some later brass versions that appear without the War and Peace slogan.

The advantage this pen has over a Kaweco is that it is slightly longer which allows it to take international standard size ink cartridges or a standard ink convertor. It is available with either a fine or extra-fine nib

2. Delike Alpha Aluminium Fountain Pen

After their roaring success with the brass Alpha Delike launched an aluminum Alpha fountain pen yep you guessed it Kaweco make an aluminum version of their brass sport fountain pen, the Kaweco AL Sport.

3. Delike Alpha Resin Fountain Pen

To complete the Alpha range Delike also launched a resin fountain pen although interestingly enough they cost as much if not more than the Kaweco Sport they are copying. On the plus side though there are some places that were selling the Alpha resin with two nibs a glass dip nib and an EF nib although there does not appear to be many of these pens left for sale.

4. Delike Brass Fountain Pen

The Delike Brass fountain pen is advertised under a couple of different names eg “Delike Elemental” depending on where you are buying from. To all intents and purposes, it is another Kaweco inspired fountain pen this time it is based on the Kaweco Liliput Brass fountain pen. It is approximately 20mm longer than the Liliput which allows it to take international standard size ink cartridges or a standard ink convertor.

Length 120.5mm Barrel Diameter 11mm Weight 42 grams.

5. Delike New Moon Fountain Pens

Delike New Moon Fountain Pen

In 2017 Delike Launched their New Moon fountain pen which caused a stir in the fountain pen community as it is a copy of the Sailor ProGear Slim fountain pen which retails at around $100.00 and can be as much as $200.00 depending on the exact model and it could be bought for a few dollars.

It is not the only fountain pen that is inspired by the Sailor Pro Gear as the Wing Sung 627 is also a Pro Gear knock off.

The quality of the Delike obviously is not comparable with the Sailor but for those who do not have that sort of money to spend on a pen it is a viable alternative. Since its launch, Delike have tweaked the design a couple of times and we are now on New Moon version 3. One of the main differences between the original New Moon and model 3 is that the original is all acrylic whereas version 3 is a metal pen.  Also, the price of the model 3 is a lot cheaper than the original pen.

6. Delike Moonman Fountain Pens

Before Moonman struck out on their own they partnered with Delike to produce their fountain pens. Which is why that you will see some pens branded as Delike Moonman. They may have collaborated on making the pens but Delike Moonman pens do not use the same nib sections as Delike and their nibs are not interchangeable.

A Delike fountain pen will take international standard size ink cartridges whereas a Delike Moonman fountain pen takes the same size ink cartridges as Hong Dian and Wingsung.

7. Delike Moonman Brass Fountain Pen

  2. Great article. Wish I found this at publication. Thank you for competing it and maintaining it over the years.

i would benefit more from the article if each entry included the dimensions of each entry.

Nevertheless, the images and descriptions have added more pens to my wishlist. I wasn’t anticipating this when I began reading.

I look forward to reading more on PenVibe.com in the future.

    Thank you.

    • Hi Maggard the best bet is to try eBay, Alibaba express or see if anyone on Reddit at r/fountainpen can point you in the right direction.

  3. HELLO What is the thickest nib available for the simple, all brass fountain pen? From where can they be accessed? I have two of these pens currently, both have EF nibs. I need something substantially thicker.

    Regards,

    • Hi Graham

I am not sure which nibs you need. My advice would be to post a picture up with any information you have on reddit r/fountainpens and ask if the nibs can be replaced and with what?
