Taking time out for a spot of R & R & tired of reading the news, I needed a pen to help me complete a few puzzles a Uni-Ball Eye with a fine tip was close by & I started to put pen to paper.
The UB 157 has been around for more than 10 years, a rollerball with a fine 0.7 stainless steel nib, this pen writes a smooth 0.5mm line, just the right size to help cram my usually large writing into the small boxes. Available in a selection of 10 colours, (Black, Blue, Red, Green,Orange, Light green, Light blue, Violet, Pink, Wine red) all have a silver & grey barrel, the ink colour is defined on the end cap & mouthpiece. You can also keep a check of the ink level, viewing from the see through section at the top of the barrel.
My pen contains super ink, & has the “uni-flow” system, unique to uni-ball. This pigment ink it is claimed is water & tamper proof & doesn’t fade. I was never very interested in science, but for those that are, the special properties of this ink are due to having larger particles with strong chemical bonds. Exposure to UV, alcohol & absorbent paper will not prevent Super Ink standing its ground, it will remain as bright as it was when it hit the paper, rendering it useless to fraudsters.
With the help of a cone shaped tip, I found the pen performed well, there was no evidence of smudging & the ink flow pleasingly consistent on newspaper. I hate it when pens stop & start, only writing when they have a perfect surface to make their mark on.
I imagine this pen would be useful for marking papers, the added benefits of the Super ink with its tamper proof & fade resistant qualities speaks for itself.
